Guise

One man scorned and covered with scars still strove with his last ounce of courage to reach the unreachable stars; and the world was better for this.

Don Quixote, de la Mancha 1605-1615

Recently I was asked to do something that I did not want to do. Mind you, this request (mor e like an order!) came from somebody that I cannot refuse, someone in authority. I am happy to say that the outcome was, not to say satisfactory, but it ended well, considering all the circumstances.

I get ‘asked’ to do things I don’t want to do a lot. How do you refuse that kind of ‘request’? It came from someone in authority, it was put as a request, when in reality it really was an order. Psychologists would say, be frank, tell the truth. Honestly, how many people would do that? There was always the fear that if you refuse, it would cost you your livelihood, and so we let ourselves be bullied.

We protest, but how many times have we given voice to our protest?

Sides

The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.

Carl Jung

Every coin has two sides. Each story has its own tales. One might act out of the best of intentions, but will be misconstrued by others. Some people think that whatever they do will not affect other people. Love thy neighbour, the old saying goes. The ‘neighbour principle’ says the law. It all goes back to the same thing, whatever you do, or don’t do will invariably affect others.

Sometimes people are just oblivious to this. They just go on, seemingly unconcern to everything that goes on around them. They get lost in their own world, uncaring to what happen in everybody else’s. Or so it seems to us mere mortals. Could it be that they can’t stand the sight of us, that it is much easier to ignore than acknowledge our presence? Perfunctory greeting, obligatory conversation, because our voices are grating in their ears?

Scientists call it chemistry, I just call it annoying.

Hmm

You can have anything you want if you want it desperately enough. You must want it with an exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world.

Sheila Graham

Didn’t have much time to ramble these days, I’m swamped with work. Since the last blog, I have been audited twice, received official visitors once, about to be audited again next week and about to receive official visitors again in two weeks time. Rough month.

I was just pondering on the issue of how some people turn obnoxious when they get the taste of power. These people seem to poke their noses into everybody else’s business. They rose through the ranks by turning other people into stepping stones and more likely than not, they will stab you in the back, given the chance. To be fair, some of these people are really nice, and these are the people that you have to be wary of. I don’t know, is it human nature to behave like that? Or is it driven by self preservation?

Is it done consciously?
